The Government of Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) signed an investment agreement with TRG Praia, of the Resort Group PLC, on Friday in Praia to build the five-star Hilton Praia hotel, the government said in a statement.

The project, which will be managed by the Hilton Worldwide hotel chain under a 20-year contract, will feature 201 rooms, restaurants, bars, leisure and entertainment areas, general and private pools, a spa, health club, convention centre and meeting rooms, along with other facilities required for the hotel to operate.

At a cost of 45 million euros, Hilton Praia is expected to create around 150 direct jobs and will represent a “significant increase” in the country’s tourism capacity, according to the government statement.

The Hilton Praia, which will be only 6 kilometres from Praia international airport as well as the capital city’s port, is scheduled to open in May 2019.
